Consent item: borrow the empty township lot next door while Public Works rebuilds its yard.

The city shop at 1350 E. Keating is about to get crowded — trailers, materials, parking. Immediately west is 1300 E. Keating, about 2.5 acres owned by Muskegon Charter Township, with a vacant former animal-control building left out of the deal. Township board already said yes on September 8. The city would be the tenant. Muskegon County is stepping back from older rights on the site so this can happen; the county still has a household-hazardous-waste license on part of the parcel, and the two uses are not supposed to clash.

Two zones on the license: the front for DPW trailers and public parking, the rear for temporary construction-materials storage, fenced or screened if required. Term is 18 months. Price is $1. Staff say it is already in the Public Service Building account. No budget amendment.

Vote: Yes of No

A yes gives Public Works a place to work while 1350 is torn up. A no leaves that overflow on the existing yard.
